Summary
[edit]DescriptionVaried transport on Southport beach - geograph.org.uk - 321559.jpg |
English: Varied transport on Southport beach Centre of the picture is one of the open buses (built, actually, on lorry chassis) that used to operate along the sands to Ainsdale beach. It was a bumpy and jerky but enjoyable ride. Further back on the sand are seen two DUKWs, or 'Ducks', as they were affectionately called. These amphibious vehicles gave you ride on the sand AND a trip on the water. All around we see holidaymakers enjoying the good weather, for this was before the days of mass tourism to such places as Spain or Tunisia. |
