English: MONOLITHIC STONE CHAIN AT HUNDRED PILLARED HALL
Huge Stone Chain made of monolithic stone hanging on the four corners of the 100 Pillared Hall (actually 96 pillars – 12 rows by 8 columns) is a fascinating wonder. This masterpiece work will make you more astonished at the bottom end. At the end of this artistic masterpiece, there are parrots having a fest on a flower. While realizing the Complexity involved in sculpting these seamless rings (series of jointless rings) from a monolithic granite stone, we will be certainly spellbound by the finesse and skill of the ‘sthapathis’ (temple sculptors) of the time. Location : 100 Pillared Hall, Varadharaja Perumal Temple (One of 108 Divya Desam), Kanchipuram, Tamilnadu Period : 1532 CE, Achuta Deva Raya, Vijayanagara.![]()
