Description

Installation présentée dans le cadre de l'édition 2012 d'Art Souterrain

Zone 1: Place des Arts

Des milliers de rats à échelle réduite envahissent le lieu, s’insinuant dans toutes les cavités inimagi- nables pour en prendre possession et créant un croisement comportemental entre le rongeur et l’insecte. La colonie de rats trouve sa puissance de par la pluralité des êtres qui la forme ainsi que par la mise en commun de l’effort individuel. Traitant le rat comme un «totem», un être sacré que l’on respecte et craint à la fois, l’artiste fait de cette Société Invasive un modèle du comportement humain en collectivité.

Vanessa Lapointe vit et travaille à Montréal. Finissante au baccalauréat en arts visuels et médiatiques à l’Université du Québec à Montréal, elle explore, par le biais de l’installation sculpturale, l’interdépendance des individus d’une microsociété structurée et envahissante d’un territoire.
