English: Valley of a tributary of Finland Burn. This is the valley of a little burn which flows into Finland Burn; it, in turn, flows into Gallangad Burn at a point near Docking Hole: 1402213.
In the Atlas of Scotland, published by Joan Blaeu in 1654, but based on surveys by Timothy Pont in the 1580s-90s, the Finland Burn is depicted, but is called "Burn of Mewy"; I am only speculating, but that name is perhaps represented in the modern place-name Mavie Mill (NS4584). For the name Gallangad, see 1402258. |
