| Description |
Early spring, before a ski-touring climb, the bus had droped us in the small valley of Rhêmes. It was cold, and we could see the heights above Aosta from the opening of the valley. I took this picture because I was interesting in the shining summits in the distance, and the framing with the trees. I post-processed it to increase the contrast and to change the color scheme. For this, I used the darktable software. I used tone curve filters to make the cars that were in the lower right fully black. I also used tone curve filters to make the distant valley behind the trees lighter. I used local contrast and equalizer in clarity preset to increase the contrast at the center of the image, in the trees and the rocks on the side, as well as in the mountains in the back. On the opposite, I used tone curves and equalizer in bloom settings to decrease the contrast in the sky in the top of the image. For the colors, I first used a monochrome filter, with a 50% opacity, to make the image much less saturated. I then used a color correction filter and added a bit of yellow to the highlights and a bit of blue to the shadows. Finally, I used split toning, pushing the shadows to red and the highlights to yellow, to give a final touch to the colors. To fight noise, I use a bit of non-local means, leaving a slight transparency so as not to completely kill off the grain. I also used the equalizer in denoise mode. |
