Vachaer oder Förthaer Stein

Der Vachaer oder Förthaer Stein markiert
als Obelisk und Wegweiser seit 1833 die Querung
des Rennsteiges durch die alte Handelsstraße von
Leipzig über Eisenach nach Frankfurt.

Dieser Übergang gehört mit denen an der Kalten
Küche bei Spechtsbrunn und bei Frauenwald zu
den bedeutendsten Thüringer-Wald-Pässen.

Das in der Völkerschlacht bei Leipzig geschlagene
Heer Napoleons nutzte ihn im Jahr 1813 während
seines Rückzuges.
