| Description |
English: Sketch of an ideal system of ebb and flood channels (Scheldt estuary), sineshaped main (ebb) channel, flood channels starting in each bend. The latter have a double function; viz.: 1.
filling the tidal sand-flat in the inner bend of the main channel; 2. serving the cut-off currents of the bend. Notwithstanding considerable scour the depths of the bars at the upper end of the flood channels are not permanently increased
