English: In December 2018, NASA scientists and engineers traveled to the northernmost launch range in the world — in Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard, off the coast of Norway — to study atmospheric oxygen as it escapes to space through a weak point in Earth’s magnetic field. To measure this escape, the team launched two sounding rockets, part of the Visualizing Ion Outflow via Neutral Atom Sensing-2, or VISIONS-2 mission, on Dec. 7 at 6:06 and 6:08 a.m. EST.
