Description Tropical Cyclone Nathan spent a week in March 2015 slowly circling the Coral Sea east of the Great Barrier Reef off the eastern coast of Queensland, Australia. The Reef is seen in this image with its light blue ribbon of reefs, islands and cays parallel to the Queensland coast. At the time of the image, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center forecast the storm to take a westward track prior to its Category 4 intensity. This image was taken by the Suomi NPP satellite's VIIRS instrument around 11:40 p.m. EDT on March 17, 2015. (go.usa.gov/3rfqH)
