Summary

[edit]
Description View of a ceremony marking the rollout of the first U.S. Navy McDonnell Douglas F-4S Phantom II fighters, which were assigned to Fighter Squadron 21 (VF-21) "Free Lancers" at Naval Air Station Miramar, California (USA), 12 December 1979. Interestingly, VF-21 never deployed flying the F-4S. The squadron converted to the F-4S from the F-4J in 1979 and exchanged the F-4S for the F-4N in 1981, before deploying aboard USS Coral Sea (CV-43).
