Description
English: Posthumous portrait of the Wallachian poet Costache Bălăcescu, drawn in ink by V. Cosmovici. Cosmovici, himself a poet, is best known as a medium who organized spiritist seances with fellow Romantic writers Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu and Theodor Sperantia. This drawing was first published in Hasdeu's Revista Nouă. Biographical clues in Călinescu, pages 372, 592, 1005, 1009.
