Summary

[edit]
Description
English: V-shaped pillbox above Bigsweir bridge This is a photo looking west of a non-standard WW2 reinforced concrete pillbox. Unusually, it is V-shaped with the entrance (seen in this shot) at the rear. The embrasures cover both the river valley to the south and the bridge itself. Bigsweir bridge can be seen in mid-picture on the right. Evidence remains of a trench immediately in front of the pillbox which connects with two other pillboxes (of differing design) to the right of this shot. When constructed in 1940-41 this was clearly a strongpoint defending Bigsweir bridge from attack from the south.
