English: The Cathedral is a historic and listed building. - Vác. Magyar: Nagyboldogasszony-székesegyház. - A székesegyház műemlék. Azonosító: 7513. Eszterházy Károly püspök álma egy kicsinyített Vatikán felépítése volt. Az osztrák Franz Anton Pilgramot kérte fel a székesegyház tervezésével. 1761-ben Pilgram meghalt, Eszterházyt pedig Egerbe nevezték ki püspöknek, a váci püspök Migazzi Kristóf lett. Az épület alapjának lerakásával, selmeci bányászokat biztak meg. Migazzi, Canavale Isidore-t kérte fel, hogy az 1761-ben Pilgram tervei szerint lerakott alapokra tervezzen egy, az eredetinél jóval kevesebb költséget kívánó székesegyházat. Canavale a korabeli francia forradalmi építészetnek megfelelően megálmodta a ma is álló épületet. A művezetést és a kivitelezést Oswald Gáspár piarista építésszerzetes végezte. A kupolára a keresztet 1770-ben húzzák fel, így 1772.-ben, Nagyboldogasszony napján sor kerülhetett a felszentelésre. Berendezése 1777-ben készült el. 1792-ben Splényi Ferenc püspök toronyórát készíttet. 1829-ben a kupola vörösrézfedést kap. Forrás:templom.hu- Vác
