Summary
[edit]The limestone statue stands 1.80 metres tall and has large eye sockets which are filled with black obsidian eyes. The statue is depicted with hands folded in front and naked, except for the V-shaped lines resembling a necklace. The lower section of the statue has been sculpted as a U-form, so as to fit into a socket. There are some images of the statue in the category Şanlıurfa Museum Paleolithic Age Hall, I claim that is wrong as the Pre-Pottery Neolithic was after that period, to the best of my knowledge and according to what I find in the Wikipedia itself.
This is a picture, taken in 2010 in the old museum, when the statue was in a glass showcase, and one could get closer and observe it from angles that in the new museum are impossible. The colour is a bit off.
Licensing
