Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A text rambles on about the meeting of cultures in Urfa (“In Şanlıurfa, which is known today as the “City of Prophets”, many cultures and beliefs found the opportunity to develop throughout the history. Accordingly: during the Roman Period, Edessan mosaic masters developed their own unique style by also using these local characteristics of the city in addition to Eastern and Western Cultural effects.”) and concludes "it would not be wrong to consider the Jesus mosaic as a product of this development as well as one of the first examples of mosaic depictions of Jesus in Anatolia. “ As it is not indicated where the mosaic was found I cannot check this, it may be a case of a bearded man being promoted to Jesus. From the web I learned it seems to have been “rediscovered” in 2002 in the storage of the museum. I read articles that speculate it was influenced by the Turin shroud. That leaves one with all sorts of problems as for time-scale and speculation about what that shroud is. Personally I think this is a rather mediocre fragment of a mosaic, depicting a bearded man.
