Summary

[edit]
Description
English: I found this mosque named with very many different spellings; I use the one at Google Maps. It is located at 2 kilometres southeast of the Balıklı Göl. I found no information about its age, but it looks like a recent mosque, built in the classical Ottoman style. It is visited mainly because on the terrain at the mosque there is a grotto and a well that are claimed to have been used by Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (the standard-bearer of the Islamic prophet Muhammad). In a Dutch book I read he supposedly drank water from the well when ill, when on his way to Constantinopel, where he was to die and be buried at a spot that later became part of the famous Eyüp Sultan Mosque. The name given at the grotto is Hz. Eyyub Peygamber Sabır Makamı. As a result, one can see pictures of the mosque named as being of that name. I visited the grotto and well but have no information about them. I put the pictures in this set.
