Description

With tomorrow being the one-year anniversary of me actually starting to consistently post pictures, it's an interesting coincidence that I'm posting these pictures now -- my original batch of Ballard Fred Meyer pictures were taken exactly one year ago today (the day before I started uploads), and this was actually the first store I got pictures of as part of this current project (excluding the original Port Angeles Haggen pictures). Nice how things work out sometimes -- this was not planned in any way; in fact, I was originally intending to post these pictures way back in May, before I started adding stores and posting extra-long photo sets. (Speaking of extra-long sets, this is going to be one of my longest, with 72 pictures and 6 weeks of uploads! Hopefully everyone won't be too bored by the end of this :) )

Back on topic for the actual picture, this store has a particularly nice main entrance, with an arched glass vestibule (I think everyone knows by now that I love arches as a design element) with a huge glass wall underneath it. This document includes a picture of this area pre-remodel, when the store had a bland white paint scheme -- it looks even nicer now with the green-based color scheme it got when it was remodeled. Note also the Tully's Coffee sign in this picture which is not present in my newer pictures -- Tully's has gone out of business (at least as a coffee shop chain, their branded coffees seem to still be around), and Fred Meyer is now operating the cafe without any name brand attached, which I found quite interesting...
