Description

The companion to the 74HC165 (top) is a 74HC164 and it just arrived -- this is yer bog standard 8-Bit SIPO Shift Register. Loads of applications for them -- especially together, but this bad er... chip... helps control the 8 x 8 grid button data. Obviously as I need to address two banks of 64 buttons I need two boards (but not necessarily two arduinos -- we'll get onto muxing 8 bit registers later)

This completes the back end of the Arduino-based DIY Monome (aka an "Arduinome") project. Now I need to wait for the button board and buttons to arrive! I have 192LEDs to test now!
