[edit]DescriptionUnloading salt, North Pier, Oban (Geograph 5961298).jpg |
English: ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
Road salt is being unloaded from the 674 ton, 57.5m long MV Burhou I (built in Wilhelmshaven, Germany in 1978) into lorries. The vessel is operated by the Great Glen Shipping Company. The company also operates the MV Isis from their base at Corpach, Fort William. Between the two vessels they carry a wide range of freight, ranging including logs, pulp, salt and building materials, from the Northwest of England throughout the West Coast of Scotland and as far north as the Orkney Islands. Photo taken by a photographer standing upon the North Pier as salt is transferred by crane into a waiting lorry. |
