| Description |
English: University College London, Gower Street. My alma mater! Founded in 1826 as a secular alternative to Oxford and Cambridge, it was the first British university to admit students regardless of race, religion or sex - provided they could pay. It was also the first to have a students'union. It remains one of the top academic institutions in the UK. |
