Description

A distant shot of the eastside United maintenance area at LAX from Imperial Hill. This area serves legacy United aircraft, whereas the westside hangars serve ex-Continental aircraft (and on this particular day, Space Shuttle Endeavour, which had arrived the previous day).

The United 85th Anniversary Retrojet, with its 1972 "Stars and Bars" livery, is visible. It had come into Orange County the previous evening, but for some reason has been yanked from the scheduled services and has been ferried to LAX for maintenance work.

Hilton LAX is in the background.
