Summary

[edit]
Description

Union Pacific 6936 is an Electro-Motive Division of General Motors DDA40X locomotive. This engine is a Centennial engine initially delivered on the 100th anniversary of the May 10th 1869 driving of the Transcontinental Railroad golden spike at Promontory Summit, Utah.

UP 6936 was the largest diesel locomotive ever built and dominated the UP high-speed freight mainline western subdivisions throughout the 1970s and 1980s. It is 98.5 feet long with an 8000-gallon fuel tank (the fuel tank alone weighs 30-tons when full!).
