Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Union Canal Previously disused after the Central Lowlands canal system fell into disrepair, the Union originally linked Edinburgh to Glasgow via a flight of locks that dropped down to the Forth & Clyde canal that ran from Bowling on the Clyde, to the Forth, just north of Falkirk. The lock flight which dropped boats into the Forth & Clyde was most unpopular as it took a long time to traverse, and eventually the link was cut. Fortunately, the construction of the Falkirk Wheel re-established the connection, and in an innovative way. The aqueduct shown here was built as part of the 'Wheel' access route.
