Title
Unidentified spoon-like object
Description
English: Small spoon- or scoop-like object made from copper alloy, 86 mm long. The handle is cylindrical, 3 mm in diameter, and at one end is a small sub-rectangular scoop measuring 7 x 13 mm. This is not set perfectly symmetrically on the handle and may be damaged. At the back of the scoop the bottom of the handle is decorated with a single transverse groove. At the top of the handle, one side has been cut away or hammered down to produce a flattened, slightly expanded area. This is now incomplete, having broken across a circular perforation; the surviving dimensions are 6 x 8 mm. The object has a matt brown patina and there are traces of faint longitudinal ridges or striations. No parallel has been found; it is too substantial for a Roman ear-scoop and the bowl is too small for a Roman cosmetic implement.
