Title
Unidentified object of unknown date
Description
English: A copper alloy open loop; part of an unidentified object of uncertain date. It is an incomplete circle in plan, and circular in section. It is hollow, and a joint along one face shows it was made by rolling a strip of metal and then bending it into a circle. The ends are straight and do not appear to be broken. It is possible there were terminals which are now missing. There are traces of possible gilding. One possible function is that it was an ear-ring. It is not like the types suggested by Allason-Jones for Roman examples, but the condition of the metal suggests a later date too. It could also be an element from an enormous rage of composite items.
