Description
English: Half-length portrait of a man in uniform wearing a hat with eagle insignia on it. An eagle is perched on a pole with a shield fixed to it, which the sergeant is leaning on. "THE CENTINNIAL PHOTOGRAPH OF 'Old Abe,' the Live Wisconsin War Eagle." (printed on reverse side). "[illegible Governor" (written on reverse side). The subject is an unidentified sergeant of the signal corps, probably attached to the "Iron Brigade," the Wisconsin unit that took "Old Abe" (an eagle mascot) into battle.
