Mario Macias, a mortar man from 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, uses a metal detector to search for improvised explosive devices along the Baghdad-Diyala highway. U.S. troops conducted multiple combined air insertions along the highway with their partners from the Iraqi federal police. This mission marked the first time that U.S. Soldiers and federal police conducted an air insertion mission into local urban areas. |
