Description

The Pena Palace seen from the Castle of the Moors (Pictured)

This amazing hilltop medieval castle was built during the 8th and 9th centuries, in one of the summits of the Sintra hills, as a fortress after the Muslim conquest of the Iberian Peninsula.

Since 1995, it is classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage site.
