without exposureto the cold air. As novel a sightas one would wish to see is agroup of bathers enjoying them-selves in the pool at Glen-wood, bathing in the open airduring a snow storm — and withentire safety. In its vapor cave baths Glen-wood Springs has another uniqueattraction. The caves are prac-tically as Nature left them andare heated by springs comingout of the rocks. The tempera-ture is about 112°. The bathhouse adjoining the caves isequipped with showers, douches, shampoo slabs and other neces-sary appliances. The Colorado hotel atGlenwood is not a sanitarium;and yet it is probably true thatone is much more likely to bebenefited by a stay of two orthree weeks there than if onespent the same length of time ata sanitarium. The hotel has acompetent resident physician, and if one wishes one can regu-late ones habits and diet in sucha way as to materially add to thebenefits for which the climate isresponsible. Taylor State Road in Glenwood Canon The Fairy Caves, 1,400 feet above Glenwood and directlybehind the hotel, are most appropriately named. They run fora distance of 600 feet into the mountains and are of much morethan ordinary interest. They are grotesque chambers, lightedby electric lights, with stalactites hanging from the ceilings. Thecaves are easily reached on foot or by horseback or carriage. The Taylor State Road, running for fifteen miles from Glen-wood Hot Springs to Dotsero, through the famous GlenwoodCarion of the Grand River, affords a most beautiful drive andview of wild mountain scenery. No Name and Grizzly creeks, which come tumbling down the mountains, empty into theGrand River two miles and five miles respectively from Glen-wood. Shoshone Falls is eight miles distant. A trail, justbeyond, up Dead Horse Gulch one and a half miles, leads to thewonderful Hanging Lake on the side of the caiion, 1,200 feetabove the Grand River. Pen cannot picture the delights ofthis mountai
