Summary
[edit]DescriptionUnder the shelter on Platform 1 at Halifax station January 2023.jpg |
English: View under the main shelter at the southern end of Platform #1 at MBTA Commuter Rail Halifax station in January 2023. This station is unusual in that the two platforms aren't assigned specific "inbound" and "outbound" directions (though they used to be, as a couple out of date signs still show this). Most trains stop at Platform #1 the majority of the time, since the other stations on the line only have one platform, but Platform #2 is sometimes used as a siding if two trains need to pass here. Historically, Plymouth Direct trains (i.e. trains that ran directly to Plymouth station and terminated there, without reversing back to Kingston station) would use Platform #2 so that they would be lined up correctly approaching Seaside Interlocking, though train service to Plymouth has since been discontinued. |
