Title
Undated possible Sword fragment from Cowick
Description
English: Iron

Possible Sword fragment. Wrought Iron object, possibly a fragment from the shouldered junction of the tang and blade of a heavy iron blade. There is the appearance of folding at the tang - though this may be corrosion - and one side of the putative blade is lightly dished. The identification offered is necessarily tentative. Suggested date: Unknown, Late Iron Age to Medieval, 300 BC - AD 1500.

Length: 68mm, Width: 49mm, Thickness (at 'tang'): 18mm, Weight: 85.92gms.
