Description
Français : Cheminée de l'ex-filature Blot, à St-Maixent (79). Haute de 20 m, elle sort de terre en 1851.

Célestin Blot, officier des armées napoléoniennes démobilisé originaire de Picardie, rachète en 1824 un moulin dépendant de l'abbaye. Il en fait une filature de laine après avoir monté avec ses frères, quelques années auparavant, une affaire dans la région de Parthenay. L'usine compte une centaine d'ouvriers en 1870.

A l'aube du nouveau siècle, un incendie ravage une partie des ateliers, mettant un terme définitif à l'activité. Les bâtiments sont repris par l'imprimerie Payet, qui fonctionnera jusqu'aux années 1980.

En face se trouve l'ancienne bibliothèque J. Fouchier, fermée en 2015, remplacée par une médiathèque intercommunale à proximité.
