Description

Un bolincheur est un bateau de pêche qui capture le poisson à l'aide d'une bolinche, c'est-à-dire un filet presque rectangulaire muni de flotteurs dans sa partie supérieure et qui est disposé en arc de cercle dans l'eau pour piéger le poisson. Une bolinche sert à pêcher la sardine, l'enchoi, le thon. Ce type de filet est aussi appelé "seine" (qui s'écrit aussi "senne"). Une bolinche est plus précisément une seine de petite dimension pour la pêche côtière. A la différence du chalut, la bolinche n'écrase pas le poisson.

Le présent bolincheur basque "Hendayako Izarra" est aussi un canneur. Le thon est attrapé à l'aide de cannes (à la ligne). Ce bolincheur canneur est typique des bateaux de pêche du pays basque. Il présente la forme traditionnelle d'une forte tonture (courbure du pont). L' "Hendayako Izarra" a été mis en service en 1964. Sa coque est en bois et il mesure 24,90 mètres. Il a été désarmé en 2005.
