Description
English:

Copper alloy, probably high tin content

Brooch. Cast Tutulus or Umbo Brooch fragment comprising a central concavo-convex disc with moulded border, gutter and raised rim with three lugs remaining; a central concave umbo has a central boss. The housing for a hinged pin (lost) remains on the back. Mackreth (2011) Type 19a. Suggested date: Late Roman, 350-375.

Diameter (estimated): 41mm, Height (central at umbo, clear of fastening gear): 12.2mm, Weight: 9.26gms.
