[edit]DescriptionUma Maheshwor Temple Kirtipur Heritage Kathmandu Nepal Rajesh Dhungana (6).jpg |
English: Famous Uma Maheshwar Temple located in Kirtipur Municipality of Kathmandu District. The locals call this temple Kwacho Dega. It is about 4300 feet above sea level. This temple is located in the western part of Kirtipur. This pagoda style temple has three floors. This temple was built in 1655 AD by Rautra Vishwanath Babu, the son of King Siddhinar Singh Malla. The temple was destroyed by an earthquake in 1832 AD and was rebuilt in 1933 AD. The temple was later demolished and rebuilt with the help of locals and the Government of Nepal in 1982 AD. After that, the work of art started in this temple. The culture found in Dashain has its own significance. From the religious point of view, there is a belief that if one worships Shiva Parvati, the missing children will be found and those who do not have children will have children.
Near the main gate of the temple, two elephants are guarding the temple and there are gates in all four directions. Inside are the idols of Uma Maheshwar. A temple has been set up in the middle of a wide space all around. Small deities can also be seen in the temple premises and a large bell has also been placed. Since the temple is established in a high place, the temple is a very pleasant place with its artwork and atmosphere. From this place, the view of the valley is very beautiful and when the weather is clear, Ganesh Mountain is 7606 meters high, Langtang Mountain is 7234 meters high, Gauri Shankar Mountain is 7134 meters high, Cho Ohyu Mountain is 8201 meters high, Dorje Lakpa Mountain is 6700 meters high and various Mountains. The view of the mountain ranges is very beautiful from here. The important places of Kathmandu can be seen almost everywhere. Due to this, this place is very important. |
