[edit]DescriptionUltrasonography of kidney with diabetic nephropathy.jpg |
English: edit
Abdominal ultrasonography of the liver and left kidney of a 76 year old woman with microalbuminuria and type 2 diabetes, in order to exclude other causes of the microalbuminuria. The kidney has normal thickness of the parenchyma (or substance), but it is hyperechogenic, since it normally has an echogenicity equal to the liver. This indicates a generalized kidney disease. A diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy was made. The dark band through the liver is an artifact due to shadowing from a rib. |
