Summary
[edit]DescriptionUlm-Muenster-Marnerfenster-über-NordostPortal-P1130217+2-pCOA2-slk-ls-plx-30-08-2007-1614.jpg |
English: Ulm/Germany: Ulm Minster, Stained glass window Marnerfenster (above the northeast portal), workshop Acker, 1408, donor wool weavers guild (Marner = wool weaver), - description of the picture: the year of origin 1408 applies only to the following panes: upper part of the crucifixion group with Mary and John the Baptist, the angels with the inscription INRI and the prophet in the upper left fish bubble, it is unknown so far whether these old panes were made as trial panes for the Marien-Freuden window (donors were also the Marner) or whether they are panes from an earlier choir window - during a renovation in 1877 about two thirds of the panes were added or replaced, these are: Sun and moon with faces, the prophet in the upper right fish bubble, angels in the arch top carrying the sweat cloth of Christ, further supplemented were the lower part of the crucifixion group, the guild coats of arms, each held by three hands, on the left Peter with key, on the right Paul with sword and book and below the two bishops with book and crosier, one with mitre and the other with halo, in between St. Catherine with wheel and St. George possibly date from the 16th century; (source: Erhard John, "Die Glasmalereien im Ulmer Münster", Langenau / Ulm 2007, page 62) |
