Description

Åshild Haugsland jobber i Seksjon for brukertjenester, og viser frem et bilde fra sommeren 1928.

"Eg har valt meg eit fotografi frå Stranddalen i Suldalsheiane – eit nydeleg høgfjellsområde som med god grunn ber tilnamnet «Perlen i Ryfylke». Her har Stavanger Turistforening drive turisthytte i mange år, og der – på Stranddalshytta – debuterte eg som sommarhjelp for Den Norske Turistforening på midten av 80-talet. Seinare bar det til Haukeliseter, Glitterheim og Finsehytta for å skubba golv, bera breiddfulle matfat , selja gnagsårplaster og Kvikk Lunsj, blanda riskrem i 10-liters bollar, svara på tenkjelege og utenkjelege spørsmål frå turistane, vaska opp og vaska ned… Og i fristundene gjekk eg sjølv tur; det er nemleg ingen ting å seia på utsiktene i ein slik jobb. Fotografiet er frå arkivet etter Høyfjellskommisjonen. Det er teke somaren 1928 og merka: «31/7 Hestene går over elven ved Stranddalshytta.» I bakgrunnen kan ein sjå den karakteristiske Kjelkanuten (1138 moh.)."
