Description

The hike to Ukak Falls in the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes gets you up close to the pyroclastic flow from the 1912 Novarupta eruption.

Waterways quickly etched new slits in the towering tephra ash deposits, eventually meeting the harder bedrock below.
