[edit]DescriptionUV degradation test chamber.jpg |
English: QUV™ accelerated weathering tester. It exposes materials to alternating cycles of UV light and moisture at elevated temperatures (at T≈60 °C for example). QUV is used for example to test the yellowing of coatings (such as white paints). QUV tester simulates the effects of sunlight, and dew and rain with condensing humidity. Up to 48 specimens (150 × 75 mm) can be tested. |

"UV Irradiance Controller": to choose the level of irradiance (light intensity). This light control system maintains the irradiance (because lamps decline in output as they age). UV light from each pair of lamps is measured by UV sensors.

English: Under this swing-up door: test specimens then QUV's two pairs of fluorescent UV lamps are found. A (deionised or distilled) water reservoir (in the bottom of the test chamber) is heated during the condensation cycle.
Weathering (for this test: temperature and moisture) and light exposure (especially short-wave UV) cause damage to some materials (especially to organic materials).
