Utah Railway diesel engines climb the 24 per mil grade with a loaded 91 car coal train (somewhere around 9000 tons) at little over walking speed. The lead locomotive is an MK50-3. The picture was taken between Helper and Soldier Summit, Utah.
Deutsch: Ohrenbetäubender Lärm füllt das Tal, als total 10 (!) Dieselloks der Utah Railway mit 91 beladenen Kohlewagen (total um 9000 Tonnen) die 24 Promille-Steigung mit kaum mehr als Schritttempo erklimmen. Die Lokomotive an der Spitze ist eine MK50-3.
