Summary

[edit]
Description The U.S. Navy destroyers USS Willis A. Lee (DL-4), USS Warrington (DD-843), and the heavy cruiser USS Macon (CA-132) at St. Lambert Lock, Quebec (Canada), circa 1959. The St. Lambert Lock is the most easterly lock in the St. Lawrence Seaway. Macon was the flagship of Task Force 47, a fleet of 28 ships, including 1500 Marines of the Second Battalion, Sixth Marines, and over a thousand midshipmen from the Naval Academy and NROTC colleges. This was the first time an armed Fleet had entered the Great Lakes in 142 years.
