English: An MV-22B Osprey makes its approach for landing at Wing One Royal Thai Air Base, Nakhon Ratchasima, Kingdom of Thailand, Feb. 8 in preparation for exercise Cobra Gold 2013. This was the first time Ospreys have flown in Thailand. “Bringing the (Osprey) to the theater has been huge for us and virtually everything that the aircraft do here is a demonstration of that capability to pick up, go long distances rapidly and then bring a tremendous amount of capability on the ground once they arrive,” said U.S. Marine Maj. Gen. Christopher S. Owens. Both Thailand and the U.S. are committed to working together in areas of common interest for the betterment of regional security. Owens is the commanding of 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force. The Ospreys are assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st MAW, III MEF. |
