English: US Troops in An English Village- Everyday Life With the Americans in Burton Bradstock, Dorset, England, UK, 1944 In the dappled shade of the sycamore tree on the village green at Burton Bradstock, American troops billeted in and around the village examine a machine gun belt which, according to the original caption, was found on the beach by some of the local children. The GIs in this photograph are: Pfc John J Lawson (of 144 Pike Street, Port Jervis, New York), Pfc Robert S Hastings (of 622 Orange Avenue, Azusa, California), T/5 Leo H Pearson (of 105 Buffalo Street, Springville, New York) and Corporal Roland Henry (of 'Walthernmont, Holland, Pennsylvania). Some of the local boys can be seen chatting to the soldiers. |
