HMCS CALGARY (18 Jul 2010) Able Seaman Daniel Graham of Abbotsford, BC, a Marine Engineer Mechanic on board Her Majesty's Canadian Shipn (HMCS) Calgary flashes up the Reverse Osmosis Desalination Unit (ROD) to make fresh water for ships crew. HMCS Calgary is currently participating in the Rim of Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC) 2010. RIMPAC is a biennial, multinational maritime exercise held off Hawaii designed to improve interoperability and understanding between military forces from nations with an interest in the Pacific Rim. As such, the series of exercises has contributed to the security and stability of the region for 22 years. Canada has participated in every RIMPAC exercise since 1971.
