English: NEW YORK CITY (Nov. 7, 2009) Sailors and Marines assigned to the amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21), along with New York City firefighters and police officers man the rails of New York during the ship's commissioning ceremony in New York City. The ship has 7.5 tons of steel salvaged from the World Trade Center towers forged into her bow, and will be used to support humanitarian, amphibious assault, special operations and expeditionary warfare missions around the world.
