English: ATLANTIC OCEAN (Aug. 17, 2009) Stacks of fish lay in the hold of the Taiwanese-flagged fishing vessel Yu Feng as a result of alleged illegal fishing activity off the coast of Freetown, Sierra Leone. Crewmembers from the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Legare (WMEC 912), along with representatives from Sierra Leone's Armed Forces Maritime Wing, Fisheries Ministry and Office of National Security found the illegal catch after conducting a joint boarding operation. Sierra Leone is patrolling the waters further from their shore to protect their economic zone. Legare, homeported in Portsmouth, Va., is on a three-month deployment as part of Africa Partnership Station. (U.S. Coast Guard photo/Released) |
