Description
English: OKLAHOMA CITY (June 16, 2009) Taylor Phillips celebrates after ringing the Navy ship's bell signaling his release from treatment at the Jimmy Everest Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in Children. Phillips had his final check-up to ensure he was leukemia free after more than three years of chemotherapy. His step father, Benny Duncan, left, and his father, David Phillips, hold him on their shoulders. Rear Adm. Doug McClain, global operations director, U.S. Strategic Command, and several Sailors spent time encouraging Phillips, other patients, their families and friends as part of the Navy's "Caps For Kids" program during Oklahoma City Navy Week, one of 21 Navy Weeks planned across America in 2009. Navy Weeks are designed to showcase the investment Americans have made in their Navy and increase awareness in metropolitan areas that do not have a significant Navy presence.
