English: SAO TOME AND PRINCIPE (Jan. 21, 2008) A local Sao Tomean boy gives a "Hi-5" to Storekeeper 3rd Class Cory Brown, an Africa Partnership Station (APS) Sailor. A San Diego, Calif. native, Brown donated more than 50 pairs of shoes to needy children in various African countries as part of Project Handclasp, a community relations project that coordinated the donation of hospital beds and other items to a local hospital. APS, embarked aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43), is a multi-national effort to bring the latest training and techniques to maritime professionals in nine west and central African countries. In addition to maritime training, APS will perform more than 20 humanitarian projects in the region. U.S. Navy photo by Chief Mass Communication Specialist Jason Morris (Released) |
