English: Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (Jan. 12, 2007) - USS Salvor (ARS 52) Commanding Officer Lt. Cmdr. John C. Howard, left, turns over command to the Military Sealift Command (MSC) during a decommissioning ceremony. Salvor, commissioned June 14, 1986, was designed for salvage of stranded vessels, rescue and assistance, recovery of submerged objects and manned diving operations. Most recently Salvor returned from a scheduled five-month deployment to Southeast Asia in support of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Exercise 2006. The ship was transferred to the Military Sealift Command (MSC) upon decommissioning and will be manned by MSC civil service mariners.
